Weihnachtsmarkt

Weihnachtsmarkt

The Weihnachtsmarkt (vie-noks-mart) is an annual fun filled event for families that celebrate the holidays and Cumberland's German heritage.  On the first Saturday of December, this event provides food  and family oriented entertainment.  Visit with Santa, sip some hot cocoa or cider, enjoy crafts for kids in Old Town Cumberland, say hello to Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy the food and drink trucks, live music, the expanded light parade and the Town Christmas Tree Lighting.

Cumberland will kick off the holiday season with our 11th annual Weihnachtsmarkt!!  We hope to see you all on December 3, 2022.   This event is held from 11am to 10 pm and will feature annual traditions like Reindeer Games for the kids, an artisan vendor tent, carriage rides, real reindeer and elves, kid’s crafts,  visits with Santa, great food and drink truck options, a tree lighting ceremony, and  live music featuring our headliners this year,  The Bishops.  We will bring back the selfie stations and have an expanded light parade.

Cumberland closes US 40 from Muessing St. to Carroll Road to bring the holiday fun into the streets of Old Town Cumberland.  Santa will arrive at the Gap Meeting House and visit with children throughout the day and a couple of his reindeer will even make an appearance.  Children can participate in the Weihnachtsmarkt Scavenger Hunt to get their passport stamped, go through reindeer training to get their antlers, make crafts, get their face painted, and more.

The Bishops are taking the stage of the entertainment tent at 7 pm and will play until 10 pm. There will be other entertainers from 11 am to 5 pm. Be sure to check out our expanded vendor tent with 30+ vendors this year from 11am to 6 pm.  We will be joined again this holiday season by Peewinkle's Puppets with Heidi and the Melchior Marionettes.  The kids zone hours are 11-5 with reindeer games on US 40. Free face painting by Indy Entertainers LLC will be inside our entertainment tent!! Santa will be there from 12 to 5 in St. Nicolas Haus! We will have live reindeer and elves from 3 to 5pm with Silly Safaris.
