Utility Billing
In most cases, Cumberland Sanitary Sewage Utility charge is based on water consumption as reported to them by the Indianapolis Water Company. Because IWC reads meters every other month, there is necessarily an estimated amount every other month. In cases where there is no water meter for an address, there is alternative pricing.
Due to the Bond obtained to build the current sewage facility, there is a set fee of $22.18 to cover the bond above the rate charged for consumption. There is obviously no maximum consumption. However, there is a minimum consumption of 400 c.f. per month. Each 100 c.f. is charged at $4.00. Due, also, to charges made necessary in order to comply with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), there is an additional flat fee for residences of Corporate Cumberland in the amount of $5.20 and to businesses depending upon the sq. ft. of their impervious surface. Therefore, the minimum monthly bill for sanitary sewage is $38.18 and increases $4.00 for each addition 100 c.f. of consumption. For Corporate Cumberland residents, there is the addition of $5.20 for the storm fee. Please see below for a listing of all fees.
If one anticipates an address to be vacant for at least 2 months, the office can be contacted, and for a fee of $20.00 can place the address on unoccupied status. The consumption minimum of $16.00 will be waived until consumption is resumed.
